Transforming Amil Zakat Institutions (LAZ) with Blockchain for Transparency & Accountability
Jakarta, February 25, 2025 – ibantu.co successfully held a webinar titled “Blockchain Implementation in Amil Zakat Institutions: Strengthening Governance and Enhancing Transparency & Accountability.” The event took place online via Zoom from 08:30 AM WIB until completion. This webinar was part of ibantu.co commitment to promoting the use of blockchain technology in the digital philanthropy sector, particularly in zakat management, to strengthen the governance of amil zakat institutions in Indonesia.
The webinar opened with an in-depth presentation by Dr. Muhammad Hasbi Zaenal, Director of Research and Development ZIS-DSKL, BAZNAS Indonesia, who emphasized the importance of credibility, accountability, and transparency in zakat management. He highlighted the potential of blockchain technology in reinforcing these principles by creating an immutable and verifiable transaction recording system.
Additionally, Mr. Teguh Samudra Firdaus, Senior Manager of Innovation & Literacy at Forum Zakat, delivered a presentation on the need to increase public understanding and encourage discussions on blockchain technology in the philanthropy sector. He stressed that digital literacy among amil zakat institutions must be improved to ensure the optimal adoption of blockchain technology.
Mr. Misbahul Munir, Head of the National Fundraising Division at BMH, shared BMH’s real-life experiences in implementing blockchain for zakat management. He explained the benefits and applications of blockchain in digital philanthropy, including reporting efficiency, easy fund tracking, and increased donor trust.
